The right confessions are very important. In this series we’re talking about the confession of faith in the Word of God and the place it holds for the believer. In order to understand the importance of confessing the Word, you need to understand that God said a thing and it was. When God created this world, He spoke (confessed) or declared everything into existence (Genesis 1). We also have to learn to speak what we believe based on the Word. The Bible tells us Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession.” Heb 4:14 NKJV. Because of Jesus we can continue confessing the Word regardless of the circumstances.

Another scripture about the importance of confession and declaring the Word is Proverbs 6:2 KJV “Thou art snared with the words of thy mouth, thou art taken with the words of thy mouth.” Trouble arises when we speak contrary to the Word. Therefore, we must speak or confess the right things that lead to life. Proverbs 6:2 and other verses in the Word of God gives us clear instructions about the place right confessions hold in the walk of faith in this life. It is one of the most important things that you can learn about confession, because without confession there will be no possession.

You have what you say.  (Read Mark 11:12-26)

Confession Is Necessary for Salvation

Rom 10:9-10 says,

9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus,

and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from

the dead, thou shalt be saved.

10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and

with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

As you can see salvation is not complete until there is a confession of your faith. You have to say with your mouth what you believe in your heart. When you confess that you are a sinner and accept Jesus as Lord and Savior, you are born again. Then as you mature by learning the importance of confession, you will understand why you should not make negative statements. Unfortunately, sometimes we have bad habits of talking the problem instead of what the Word says about it. But as you gain knowledge of the power of the Word of God concerning what you say, as soon as you realize you have said something wrong, you can repent, let go of those negative confessions, and start speaking what God says. It is so important to learn to say and speak about things the way God does.

The Right Confessions

As I said before, learn to hold fast to the right confessions of God’s Word. Then continually confess who you are in Christ until it becomes real in your heart. If you are armed with this assurance, when the pressure and temptation come that try to make you say something contrary to the Word, you can stand firm in your faith. Why? Because you know who you are in Christ.

As you grow up in Him, learn to always say the same thing the Word says about you. He said, “He watches over His Word to perform it.” In another place He said “So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.” Isa 55:11. When you learn the importance of confession, you will take the Scripture–what God says–and speak it out of your mouth. Then you will experience victory in life.

Below are some confessions you can put in your heart and speak out with your mouth.

“I’m a new creature. The old (spiritual) person I used to be is dead and gone. God has made all things new. I have a new spirit, nature, life, and thoughts.” 2 Cor 5:17

“I’m a child of God.” John 1:12

“I have been redeemed from the curse.” Gal 3:13

“I am no longer a sinner because I’m a new (spirit) person in Christ.” Rom 6:22, 2 Cor 5:17

“I am in a new kingdom where everything has been provided for me.” 1 Pet 2:9, Phil 4:19

“The Lord is my good shepherd and I shall not want.” Ps 23:1

“Lord, You are my refuge and my fortress. My God in Him I trust.” Ps 91:2

“Greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world.” Rom 8:31

“I can do all things through Christ.” Phil 4:13

These are only a few of the many important right confessions you can meditate and put in your heart. Then when trouble comes, you will be able to hold fast to your confession and not be shaken. In Revelations 12:11 it says “ And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death.” All the problems they faced, they overcame them because they reminded the devil what God Word says. Be diligent to always confess the Word like they did.

Confession of the Word, declaring it in every situation is very important to your victory and success in life. (see Mark 11:23)
