[Continued from article 2]

What does it take to get a person born again? Believe on Jesus. How do you believe on Jesus.? You believe with your heart and say with your mouth Jesus is the Son of God. The bible says when you do that you are saved, born again. This is what they did when Philip preached the kingdom of God. He preached how Jesus came here, lived, died, rose again from the dead, and took a seat at the right hand of God. They belived and were saved. Philip batpized them, men and women. Then in verse 14

  • Acts 8:14 KJV

14 Now when the apostles which were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent unto them Peter and John:

Who is the word of God? The bible tells us that Jesus is the living word of God. They received the word of God which means they received Jesus. When you receive Jesus you receive eternal life and are born again. When the apostles heard that Samaritains, a mixed race of people, had received the word of God ,they sent Peter and John to pray for them

  • Acts 8:15 KJV

15 Who, when they were come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Ghost:

Some people say when you get born again you have all you need. Why would Peter and John come down and pray for them that they might receive the Holy Ghost if they got all they needed when they got born again? Receiving the baptism of the Holy Spirit is subsequent to salvation. It is an experience Jesus promised you after you are born again. First, he comes to give you life. Second, he come to empower you (But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you).

  • Acts 8:16-18 KJV

16 (For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.)

17 Then laid they their hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost.

18 And when Simon saw that through laying on of the apostles’ hands the Holy Ghost was given, he offered them money,

Let me ask you a question. Have you ever seen the Holy Spirit? How did Simon know they received the Holy Spirit if it says he “saw” and you can’t see the Holy Spirit. He had to have heard them speak with tongues.

  • Acts 8: 19-21 KJV

19 Saying, Give me also this power, that on whomsoever I lay hands, he may receive the Holy Ghost.

20 But Peter said unto him, Thy money perish with thee, because thou hast thought that the gift of God may be purchased with money.

21 Thou hast neither part nor lot in this matter: for thy heart is not right in the sight of God.

In the original Greek the word matter is translated as utterance. So it has no part in this utterance.

Lets continue on to Acts chapter 10

  • Acts 10:1-6 KJV

1 “There was a certain man in Caesarea called Cornelius, a centurion of the band called the Italian band,

A devout man, and one that feared God with all his house, which gave much alms to the people, and prayed to God alway.

He saw in a vision evidently about the ninth hour of the day an angel of God coming in to him, and saying unto him, Cornelius.

And when he looked on him, he was afraid, and said, What is it, Lord? And he said unto him, Thy prayers and thine alms are come up for a memorial before God.

And now send men to Joppa, and call for one Simon, whose surname is Peter:

He lodgeth with one Simon a tanner, whose house is by the sea side: he shall tell thee what thou oughtest to do.

Skip down to verse 36

  • Acts 10:36-44 KJV

36 The word which God sent unto the children of Israel, preaching peace by Jesus Christ: (he is Lord of all:)

37 That word, I say, ye know, which was published throughout all Judaea, and began from Galilee, after the baptism which John preached;

38 How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.

39 And we are witnesses of all things which he did both in the land of the Jews, and in Jerusalem; whom they slew and hanged on a tree:

40 Him God raised up the third day, and shewed him openly;

41 Not to all the people, but unto witnesses chosen before God, even to us, who did eat and drink with him after he rose from the dead.

42 And he commanded us to preach unto the people, and to testify that it is he which was ordained of God to be the Judge of quick and dead.

43 To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins.

44 While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word.

Now here is Peter preaching to these Gentiles. They got born again while he was preaching because they believed and received. Then the Holy Ghost fell on them and look what happened

  • Acts 10:45-47 KJV

45 And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost.

46 For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter,

47 Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we?

They were astonished because they didn’t think God would give the Holy Spirit to Gentiles. They couldn’t deny that the Gentiles received the Holy Spirit because they heard them speak with tongues. We have seen the Samaritans and the Gentiles get filled with the Holy Spirit. So you can too.

I believe the bible is God’s perfect, infallible truth that has been given to us sealed in blood. Whoever believes and receives it, God will manifest and prove to you and confirm in your heart that this is the truth. If you listen to the opinions of men you will be confused, but if you go to the word of God and say Holy Spirit I want to know the truth, he will reveal it to you. I want you to be fulling convinced because in these days you need a friend. You need this great comforter. You need the Holy Ghost. He is a friend that will never leave you and never let you down. God wants his church to have all that he gave, and he gave his church the mighty Holy Spirit. Hallelujah!
